Two New Westminster businesses have been added to the list of COVID-19-related workplace closures in Fraser Health.
Arcteryx' office and manufacturing facility in Queensborough (425 Boyne St.) were added to the list on Monday, May 10, although the site notes that the company's distribution centre remains unaffected.
Also on the list is Taverna Greka, the popular Columbia Street restaurant. The restaurant, which has been open for takeout and delivery, announced the closure on its Facebook page on May 5.
On Sunday, May 9, it followed up with a message to its customers: "Thank you for all the messages and well wishes sent our way. We just wanted to let you know that we are all doing OK. For the health and safety of our staff, customers and community, we will remain closed until Wednesday, May 19, 2021. We hope everybody stays safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!"
The closures are part of new provincial regulations announced April 8. Under the regulations, when three or more people in the same workplace have COVID-19, with "likely transmission" occurring in the workplace, that workplace will be ordered to shut down. Closures will usually be for 10 days, or as determined by the medical health officer, in order to prevent further transmission and to update and approve the worksite's COVID-19 safety plans.
Workplaces ordered to close are listed on Fraser Health's workplace closures site, and listings are removed when businesses are cleared to reopen.
