E-Comm 911 warns that a province-wide outage is affecting Telus and Koodoo customers' 911 service.

People are asked to still dial 911, but (if the call fails) to try using an alternative communication to reach emergency services, such as a landline.

E-Comm 911 Communications Manager Kaila Butler told Vancouver Is Awesome that customers should continue to try dialling 911 as the "issues are intermittent."

"Our biggest advice, if you are experiencing an emergency right now, [is to] try dialling 911. If that call fails, the best thing you can do is try to call from another carrier or landline, if possible," she explained.

Butler said "people should be getting callbacks, for the most part, across the province," as E-Comm is getting caller contact information.

People should still try to use a landline or another cellphone but E-Comm has "call-takers that are calling back all of [its] calls that are unable to come through," she added.
