Car engine blows after N driver goes upwards of 200 km/h in Lower Mainland

Police have charged the individual for excessive speeding, driving without consideration, and failing to display their N.

An individual in the Lower Mainland was driving so fast that their car engine blew, according to police. 

In the wee hours of Sunday (Jan. 23) morning, a driver in an unmarked vehicle was travelling at speeds upwards of 200 km/hr on Hwy #1 at Sumas Way., Abbotsford Police say in a tweet. As a result of the high speed, the car engine blew. 

The driver was charged with excessive speed, which comes with a hefty fine starting at $368. The new driver was also charged for driving without consideration and failing to display his N.

The car was also seized and impounded.

While some drivers make up excuses for their behaviour, others tell traffic enforcement officers to change what they are doing instead.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers recently pulled over a driver who was speeding 53 km/h over the limit, and the individual asked "why police don't do their job [and] focus on the drugs [and] alcohol killing people."

Naturally, the point wasn't well-received and Transit Police noted in a Twitter post that there were a staggering 252 fatal traffic collisions in 2019 in B.C. and speed was the biggest contributing factor.
