White Rock resident Magdalena Gonzales scared the heck out of her family when she found out she had won half a million dollars playing the lottery.
Gonzales matched 4/4 Extra numbers from the November 26, 2024, Lotto Max draw, which meant she won a $500,000 prize.
The ticket was purchased at Red Rooster Food Store on Stayte Road in White Rock.
The lucky winner says she was at home, which she shares with her daughter and grandson, when she checked the BCLC Lotto! App and realized she had won.
“I shouted loudly and went downstairs to tell my daughter. She came out and thought she may have to take me to the hospital," said Gonzales in a BCLC media release.
Her family got in on the shouting and jumping around - but wanted to make sure she didn't lose the winning ticket.
Gonzales says it feels "amazing" to win, but she isn't sure yet what she will do with the windfall. She does have plans to celebrate with her family.
