Locals might have to contend with unseasonably chilly overnight lows and gloomy weather for a couple of weeks.
While spring is well underway in Metro Vancouver, Environment Canada's short-term forecast includes overnight lows dipping down to the freezing mark and plenty of April showers. In fact, Vancouver was ranked Canada's "April showers hotspot" in a recent report.
But the wintry weather might taper off somewhat after this week.
The Weather Network expects that a "sluggish start" to spring will continue through the first week of April across most of the country. Colder-than-normal temperatures are expected to extend "from British Columbia to northern Ontario, stretching into northern Quebec."
The cold weather is expected to "shift east" heading into the Easter long weekend, with the frigid temperatures focused from Ontario to Atlantic Canada.
"This should allow B.C. and Alberta to enjoy a few days of warmer weather during the weekend and into the second week of April," note the report's authors.
Heading into mid-April, the below-average temperatures are expected to return to Western Canada and dominate most of the month. That said, April tends to be a "fickle month," meaning that there are opportunities for warmer weather, too.
