The Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes a shift to rain this week following several sunny days.
Before the rain begins, daytime highs will soar up to 20 C inland in parts of the Lower Mainland on Tuesday, April 23, according to Environment Canada.
V.I.A.'s Trout Lake Weatherhood station in East Vancouver shows a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 18 C and a low of 6 C on Tuesday (see slide two).
Wet weather is possible on Wednesday, although it would be minimal. The Trout Lake area's forecast includes minimal amounts of precipitation under 5 mm. A high of 13 C and a low of 8 C is expected.
Thursday's forecast includes a high of 12 C and a low of 7 C but the area is expected to see significantly more rainfall with amounts up to 16 mm. Periods of rain are expected to ease into showers heading into Friday; precipitation amounts under 4 mm are expected through the day.
Saturday is expected to see slightly more rainfall, with precipitation amounts up to 11 mm expected. However, Sunday is shaping up to be the wettest day of the week in and around Vancouver, with as much as 27 mm of rain expected in an organized rainstorm.
Metro Vancouver seven-day weather forecast
Other parts of the Lower Mainland are expected to see similar temperatures and a shift to wet weather this week.
Port Coquitlam is expected to reach a high of 19 C on Tuesday before dropping to a high of 13 C on Wednesday. Precipitation amounts up to 5 mm are also expected on Wednesday but Sunday's forecast includes heavy rainfall with amounts up to 27 mm.
Surrey is expected to reach a high of 20 C on Tuesday before falling to a high of 12 C on Wednesday. Precipitation amounts up to 5 mm are also expected on Wednesday. However, VI.A.'s Surrey City Centre station shows precipitation amounts of up to 13 mm on Sunday, meaning the neighbourhood might see significantly less rain than other parts of Metro Vancouver.
Environment Canada's current spring and summer forecast includes a warmer-than-average signal from May through September.
