Fraser River Discovery Centre is expanding this weekend’s Super Saturdays event in honour of Halloween.
This weekend’s Super Saturday’s programming will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29. The centre, located at 788 Quayside Dr., will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
“Can you make it past all the invasive species haunting the Fraser River basin?” asks Stephen Bruyneel, the centre’s director of external relations and development. “Dare to explore the unknown lurking beneath the surface in our haunted house, then face the microscopic world where decomposers rule. Who knows what you will meet along the way!”
The weekend’s activities, which aim to have a spooky twist in recognition of Halloween, give families a chance to: identify invasive species through games and activities; get “microscopic” with mold as you dive into decomposition; compare costumes with George the Sturgeon; and snap a photo at the costume selfie stations.
“There will be fun for everyone, although these activities are best suited for families with children aged six to 11,” Bruyneel says. “No need to pre-register – just drop in and have fun!”
Fraser River Discovery Centre provides a variety of exhibits and programming related to various aspects of the Fraser River.
Super Saturdays, which take place on the last Saturday of every month, is a series of public programs geared toward family-friendly activities, all focused on a different Fraser River topic each month.
Super Saturdays are free with admission to the galleries.
