Humanitarian speaks at college

Samantha Nutt - medical doctor, activist, author and award-winning humanitarian - will speak at Douglas College's New Westminster campus on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Samantha Nutt - medical doctor, activist, author and award-winning humanitarian - will speak at Douglas College's New Westminster campus on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Nutt is executive director of the North American chapter of War Child, a charitable organization that aims to improve the lives of people in war-torn countries through access to education, justice and employment.

For the past 15 years, Nutt has been on the front lines of many of the world's biggest crises, including Darfur, Afghanistan, Iraq and others.

On Jan. 25, she will offer her unique take on the issue of global conflict, and what we as global citizens can do to solve it.

Nutt will speak as part of International Day, an annual event at Douglas College that celebrates and promotes cultural diversity, awareness and understanding. She will be signing copies of her book, Damned Nations: Green, Guns, Armies & Aid, afterwards.

The talk is at 7 p.m. in the Laura C. Muir Performing Arts Theatre. It's free and open to the public. Reserve a seat at 604-527-5484.
