Popular children's entertainers Bobs and Lolo will be singing for Santa at Royal City Centre.

The 2010 Juno-nominated children's entertainers will perform at the mall on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. They'll be welcoming Santa Claus to Royal City Centre.

"We're super excited to perform in New Westminster this month - especially with the special task of helping welcome Santa to Royal City Centre," Bobs said in a press release. "We don't get to perform in the region that often, and families are always emailing and sending us notes on Facebook to ask when we'll be visiting. I can't think of a better way to kick off the holiday season."

Lolo notes that the duo has had a great year, which included touring across Canada and releasing their fourth album, Connecting the Dots.

Admission is free. Santa's arrival also includes face painting from noon to 4 p.m.

WHERE TO GO

A recent Around Town column mentioned that Monarch Place would appreciate donations for its annual Christmas party but neglected to tell readers where to take any gifts.

Monarch Place, a transition house in New Westminster for women and children fleeing domestic violence, is expecting about 250 women and children to attend its upcoming Christmas party.

It would like to have enough items to ensure everyone leaves with a present.

Donations of items such as toys, chocolates and candy, stationery supplies, small decorating items, perfume or fancy soaps, makeup or nail polish, games and children's books are being accepted until Dec. 5.

Anyone wishing to donate can call 6045211888 or drop off donations at the CAW building, 326 12th St.

NEW POST FOR MP

Burnaby-New Westminster MP Peter Julian has been named the new finance critic of the Official Opposition New Democratic Party.

Since his recent appointment to the post, Julian has met with the governor of the Bank of Canada, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and the parliamentary budget officer.

"I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me by our interim leader, Nycole Turmel, to be chosen for the position of finance critic for the federal NDP's Official Opposition caucus," he said. "I am aware that there is a tremendous amount of work to do in the coming months as Canada enters a renewed economic slowdown. The NDP caucus is hard at work providing economic alternatives as Canadian families are finding it more and more difficult to make ends meet."
