The Raymond Burr Performing Arts Society is doing its part to encourage the development of the theatre arts.

The society has presented its annual Second Year Entrance Award of Distinction to Douglas College student Christopher Osterman.

Osterman, a resident of Surrey, supervised the construction and rigging of the set for the college's production of Jehanne of the Witches in November.

Maureen Albanese, the society's treasurer, presented Osterman with the award at the opening night reception for Jehanne of the Witches.

"This award fulfils the society's continuing objective to provide access to community theatre and resources to foster and develop theatre arts in New Westminster," said E.C. "Ted" Eddy, president of the society, in a press release.
