Fraser River Discovery Centre wants to help folks tap into their relationship with the Mighty Fraser through a meditative drawing workshop.
FRDC is hosting a meditative drawing workshop on the boardwalk on Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to noon.
The workshop will be led by Taj, a comic artist, storyteller, and printmaker who draws on accessible and collaborative processes to create bold, expressive work that connects self to space.
“As we grow up, we often lose confidence in our ability to draw and represent the world,” Karen Lee, FRDC executive director, said in a news release. “This workshop is a great opportunity to practise observation skills and develop trust in your own abilities.”
Using meditative drawing and writing exercises, this workshop guides participants through observing and depicting the natural environment to cultivate curiosity and visualize the connections to the landscape. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to use their surroundings and natural specimens as inspiration and drawing references.
No experience necessary and all materials are provided.
Everyone is welcome to attend, but this workshop is meant for adults and teens. Early bird pricing is available until July 7.
