New West Farmers Market is having its final market of the season. Fresh produce, prepared foods and alcohol are among the offerings at this family-friendly event that also includes live music and food trucks. It runs from 3 to 7 p.m. in Tipperary Park (315 Queens Ave.), next to New Westminster City Hall
Elvis and The Rise of Rock & Roll, presented by classic film scholar Michael van den Bos. It explores Elvis Presley’s musical career via film and vintage TV clips. It’s happening in Studio 1B at the Eighth & Eight Creative Spaces, which permits food and drinks during the show. Three signature cocktails created for this event – My Way, Jailhouse on the Rocks, and All Shook Up – are available for purchase, in addition to other beverages and treats. It’s on Thursday, Nov. 2 from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $21 to $27, plus service charges.
Friday, Nov. 3
The New Westminster Secondary School Hyacks’ varsity football squad play their final regular season of the game against St. Thomas More Collegiate. It’s Senior Night, where the team recognizes graduating seniors and their families. The game is at 7:30 p.m. at Mercer Stadium.
Hundreds of students and community members will gather in the military section of Fraser Cemetery for the annual No Stone Left Alone ceremony. It begins at 10:30 a.m. and the ceremony is at 10:45 a.m. They’ll place more than 450 poppies on military headstones to honour the sacrifice of Canadian veterans. The Royal Canadian Theatre Company presents The Farndale Avenue Murder Mystery at Anvil Theatre. “Every drama group has experienced the horrors of what can go wrong on opening night, and the ladies of the F.A.H.E.T.G. PechaKucha New West returns to New West for Volume 32 on Saturday, Nov. 4. Ten speakers will do presentations showing 20 images, each lasting 20 seconds. It’s taking place in the second floor gallery of Fraser River Discovery Centre, 788 Quayside Dr. Tickets are $12 and must be purchased ahead of time. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the presentations begin at 8 p.m.

Farewell to Centennial Community Centre – Walk Through Memory Lane features free 15-minute walks through the facility, at which time folks can collect a memento, take photos and participate in activities.
