The New Media Gallery is hosting a unique performance this weekend.
Dancer Evann Siebens will be on hand in the gallery on Saturday, April 29 for Please Don’t Sit On The Furniture – part of a series of exploratory exhibition responses held in the gallery.
Using her own dance background – she’s a former dancer with the National Ballet of Canada and Bonn Ballet – Siebens responds to the works in the gallery’s ongoing BRINK exhibition with movement, audio video and humour.
Or, as a write-up about the event notes: “An incomplete history of dance and performance will be questioned and explored. No participation necessary. All will be revealed. Everyone will keep their clothes on.”
With a billing like that, how can you say no? Please Don’t Sit on the Furniture starts at 2 p.m. It’s free, and you don’t need to register. (If you can’t sit on the floor, please arrive early and request a chair.)
The New Westminster New Media Gallery is on the third floor of the Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St. For information, call 604-875-1865 or email [email protected].
