Rev. Blair Odney, seen here leading the Rainbow Chorus during New West Pride in 2022, will direct the choir's Love at the Movies concert this Sunday, Feb. 12.

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with love and music?

The Rainbow Chorus of New Westminster is inviting everyone to join them for Love Goes to the Movies this Sunday evening.

The choir’s concert, set for Sunday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., celebrates love-themed music from the silver screen — including such favourites as It Had To Be You, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Time of My Life, Shallow and more.

The show will be hosted by New Westminster’s drag sweetheart, Whoopsie Daisy, and the choir will be joined by special guests: the Vancouver Orpheus Male Choir and pianist James Dekker.

The concert, in celebration of Oscar season, marks the end of the chorus’s second season.

Rev. Blair Odney started the choir at the beginning of 2022 for singers of all ages and backgrounds who identify as part of the queer community, plus their allies. It now has about 50 singers from all walks of life.

The Love Goes to the Movies concert is at Sanctuary on 6th at 207 Sixth St.

Tickets in advance are $20 regular, $15 for students and seniors, free for children under 12; buy through Eventbrite. Tickets will also be available at the door for $25.
