The Outlaw Art Show, seen here in its first incarnation, returns for the third year this week. It's on at the Gallery at Queen's Park starting Wednesday.

"Rebellious joy, fun and beauty" are promised for New West viewers as the Outlaw Art Show returns for its third year.

The show is set to run today (Aug. 30) to Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Gallery at Queen's Park.

The Outlaw Art Show is a collection of artwork from musicians in New Westminster and Vancouver's underground rockabilly and punk music scene, as a news release notes.

"Outsiders, rebels, unique voices in troubled times," an artist statement reads.

Viewers can expect to see fun, colour, joy, beauty and humour, the statement notes, as the show incorporates paintings, mixed-media works, prints and magazine art.

The show includes work by Bradford Lambert, Kelly Haigh, Gord Smithers, David Ostrem, Andrea Tucker, Paul Hetherington, Gord Kearney, Dennis Brock, Dave Dykhuizen, Toby Dika, Ray Condo, Ian Tiles, Rob Thomson, Tony Bardach, Richard Chapman, Kevin House, Robert Bartovsky, Jimmy Roy, Bob Scott and Clive Jackson.

Everyone's invited to an opening party on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m., with a weekend opening gala on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, you can take in a linocut/relief printing demo by Smithers at 2 p.m.

To check out the exhibition, stop in to the gallery at Centennial Lodge any time during exhibition hours: Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
