Summer may be coming to an end - but you'd never know it by this week's warm weather. The sun is forecast to shine through the weekend - great for those wanting to get out and run for charity or attend a barbecue. If you'd rather beat the heat inside, we have some offerings for you, too. We're continuing with our popular feature, The Record's Top Five (or More) Things to Do This Weekend and offer the following suggestions for the Sept. 13 to 15 weekend.

1. Celebrate the legacy of Terry Fox and help raise funds for cancer research in the annual Terry Fox Run. This year marks the second year the New Westminster run has taken place on the flat terrain at Westminster Quay. The run includes one-kilometre, 2.5-km, five-km, 7.5-km and 10-km routes. If you don't want to run or walk, the routes are suitable for bikes, wheelchairs and strollers. The annual Terry Fox Run takes place on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration takes place at the River Market starting at 9 a.m., and the run gets underway at 10 a.m.

2. Check out the offerings at Curious Flea, which features antiques and vintage items, including some one-of-akind treasures. Curious Flea takes place at River Market (810 Quayside Dr.) on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free, but people who pay $10 can get in at 9 a.m. on Saturday to get first dibs on the treasures that are for sale.

3. Audition for the Seniors Have Talent show that's taking place in October at the Sapperton Pensioners Hall and features cash prizes. Anyone aged 55 and up with a talent they want to share is invited to attend auditions on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. at the hall, which is located at 318 Keary St. Whether you're a singer, musician, dancer, short story teller, comedian, poet or have another entertaining talent, you're welcome to attend. For more information, call 604-522-0280.

4. Enjoy a community barbecue at St. Barnabas Church on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. Key West Ford is sponsoring the community barbecue, and everyone is invited to attend. St. Barnabas Church is located at 1010 Fifth Ave.

5. Hear stories by female writers at the open mic event taking place on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Renaissance Books, 43 Sixth St. Franci Louann, the event's special guest, will be reading from Beautiful Women, an anthology of stories by female writers.
