If your pandemic procrastination has outstripped your COVID creativity, you're in luck.
The Royal City Literary Arts Society has extended the deadline for its annual Write On! contest from April 1 to May 1 at midnight.
You still have time to enter your best work in fiction, non-fiction and poetry categories. Fiction and non-fiction are capped at a maximum of 1,500 words, while poetry must be no more than one single-spaced page.
Writers are invited to enter a maximum of three submissions per person (in any one or all three categories). Past winning work is not eligible, but writers who didn’t win or receive an honourable mention may resubmit stories and poems from previous years.
Cash prizes of $150, $100 and $75 are handed out to the top three submissions in each category, and three honourable mentions are also named per category. Winners and honourable mentions will be published in the RCLAS e-zine, Wordplay at Work.
Submissions are anonymous, so entries should include a separate cover letter with your name, address, email, phone, category, title and payment information.
Entry fee is $10 per submission for RCLAS members, or $20 for non-members.
