New West residents are invited to enjoy a little holiday cheer at Shine Bright Downtown.
Running until Jan. 31, 2024, Shine Bright Downtown features twinkling light displays and shopping opportunities.
"Shine Bright is a cherished tradition in Downtown New West since its inception in 2020, bringing the community together to celebrate the magic of this time of year,” said Alice Cavanagh, board president of the Downtown New West BIA. “We invite everyone to join us for another season of festive fun, creating memories that will last a lifetime."
The BIA invites community members to check out the twinkling lights in Hyack Square and Westminster Pier Park. Sparkling structures and light tunnel displays are perfect for Instagram-worthy moments.
A highlight of Shine Bright Downtown is the return of Shop Nights, where folks can support local businesses – and cross some names off their Christmas lists.
Shine Bright Downtown Shop Nights are taking place on Thursdays, Dec. 15 and 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at retail shops in downtown New West, including River Market.
“Discover unique gifts and treats at our festive Shop Nights, featuring local favourites,” said a press release from the BIA. “From handmade crafts to delectable seasonal treats, find the perfect gifts for your loved ones while supporting the community.”

Shine Bright Downtown is part of the City of New Westminster’s Shine Bright New West program, which features light displays and festive activities in neighbourhoods across the city.
