A New West resident with a passion for community engagement will be lending her expertise to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
Hayley Woodin, editor-in-chief of Business in Vancouver, is the newest appointee to the foundation’s volunteer board of directors.
“I have been able to see first-hand how much impact Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation has on the community and in the province,” Woodin said in a RCHF press release. “As a resident of New Westminster, it is an honour for me to have the opportunity to give back locally, while also witnessing the unique role Royal Columbian has in B.C.’s health-care system.”
According to the press release, BIV is the biggest business news organization in British Columbia and is a division of the largest local news network in the country. (It’s also a sister publication to the Record.)
In addition to her role at BIV, Woodin is a North American correspondent for BBC Radio's Business Matters program, an Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholar (2022), a Pulitzer Travelling Fellow (2022 to 23), a Pulitzer Center Fellow (2022), a Gumshoe Reporting Fellow (2022) and a past Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada Media Fellow (2017 to 2018). In 2022, she graduated at the top of Columbia University’s graduate school of journalism class, as valedictorian, with a master’s of science degree (honours) in journalism.
“Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation is thrilled to welcome Hayley to our volunteer board,” Jeff Norris, foundation president and CEO, said in the news release. “Hayley brings with her a passion for community engagement and outstanding leadership, and we are excited to have her contributions to the board as we continue our work to support the Columbian in providing complex healthcare in B.C. to patients in their most critical moments.”
