Prospera Credit Union is making a move in New West, but it’s not going far.
Later this year, the credit will be moving out of its current location at Sixth and Sixth and relocating to the former Rexall building a block away.
“We’re very excited about opening this new branch because it will have a modern design and will feature Prospera’s new brand,” Jessica Thiessen, Prospera’s manager of communications, said in an email to the Record.
In November 2019, members of Prospera Credit Union and Westminster Savings approved the largest merger in Canadian credit union history. The new credit union, Prospera Credit Union, is now the sixth largest in Canada, with more than 120,000 members and 900 employees.
“After the merger between Prospera Credit Union and Westminster Savings in January 2020, one of the promises we made to members from each former credit union was the ability to conduct transactions at all of our branches, and we’re pleased that this new branch will allow all members to conduct many common transactions in-branch, a big step forward,” Thiessen said.
According to Thiessen, Prospera Credit Union will be leasing space in the former Rexall building at 700 Sixth St., and it won’t be renewing its current lease at 601 Sixth St. when it vacates the property.
