The owner of a Columbia Street building has agreed to make repairs as requested by the City of New Westminster.
Last March, city council approved a remedial action order that required the owner of 410 Columbia St. to repair or demolish the building on the site within 180 days to address safety hazards. When the property owner failed to comply with the order, council directed its solicitor to pursue a Supreme Court order requiring the owner to repair or demolish the building.
After actions taken by legal counsel for both parties, the matter was slated to be heard in Supreme Court in January, but a settlement agreement was reached before that.
