Is there a child in your house who just can't stop singing Jack Black's impassioned rendition of Peaches from The Super Mario Bros. Movie?
No? Just me, then.
In any case, whether you're familiar with the catchy tune or not, you can bid adieu to summer in style at an outdoor movie screening next Friday night.
On Sept. 8, turn out at Westminster Pier Park for a showing of The Super Mario Bros. Movie — which won the popular vote when the city conducted an online poll to determine which movie to show. The movie starts at dusk, but you can turn out starting at 6 p.m. for a variety of family activities and prizes, including photo ops with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach.
Before the show, you can enjoy some New West film trivia presented by the Motion Picture Community Initiative.
Bring your own blanket, snacks and beverages to make an evening of it. And, if you want more to eat, you can get yourself food from the Eats at the Pier concession or from an on-site food truck.
It's all free, family-friendly and part of the city's summer waterfront fun initiatives. Check out the City of New Westminster waterfront fun page for details.
