New Westminster motorists will certainly find a fair share of cheaper fuel at local pumps this weekend.

According to GasBuddy.com, $1.67 per litre is the least expensive price in the city today, Aug. 23, at Centex and Fetch Panda on Ewen Avenue (see list below).

That's a drop of seven cents from $1.74 per litre last Friday, Aug. 16.

It's the third least expensive price for fuel in Metro Vancouver — four cents behind $1.63 per litre at the 64 Avenue Shell in Surrey.

As well, it's one of six outlets in New West offering gas for less than $1.70 per litre.

However, because other stations are more expensive, $1.70 is also the average price in the community. The number is six cents less than $1.76 from last week.

For comparison, that's one cent more than the $1.69 per litre median in neighbouring Burnaby and the Tri-Cities — Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody.

Meanwhile, there's one outlet in B.C. that's selling fuel for less than $1.50 per litre — and it's within driving distance for local motorists.

The Petro-Canada in Mission along Lougheed Highway has posted a price of $1.49 per litre, located less than 60 km east of Burnaby north of the Fraser River.

Abbotsford is also host to four stations offering $1.53 per litre.
