How can the arts inspire social change?

That’s the subject of a lunchtime discussion set for Tuesday, Oct. 22 at New Westminster City Hall.

It’s set to run from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the council chambers at New Westminster City Hall, hosted by the New Westminster Community Poverty Reduction Committee.

The event will feature a panel discussion with Mary Campbell, development coordinator for Lookout Housing and Health Society, which runs an annual H’Arts for the Homeless fundraiser; Stephen O’Shea, executive director of the Arts Council of New Westminster; Oana Capota, curator of the New Westminster Museum; and Alan Hill, the City of New Westminster’s poet laureate.

Their discussion will look at how the arts can be used as a force for good and in promoting social equity.

A light lunch is included.

It’s free, but register ahead at www.eventbrite.ca (search for How the Arts Can Inspire Social Change in New Westminster, or use a direct link at www.tinyurl.com/ArtsSocialChange).
