The Spirit of the Children Society is inviting New Westminster and Burnaby residents to join them in bearing witness on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The society is holding a teaching pow wow, Voices of our Children, at Westminster Pier Park on Saturday, Sept. 30. It's set to run from noon to 4 p.m.
“There will be traditional dancing, important guest speakers, and an opportunity for you to support Indigenous vendors in the marketplace," notes a video message from the society.
The pow wow will feature drumming by StarChild and dancing by Wild Moccasin Dancers.
You'll be able to purchase food and drinks from food trucks and from the Eats concession; bring a water bottle and chairs or a blanket.
Attendees are asked to note that it's an alcohol- and drug-free event.
Voices of Our Children is hosted by the Spirit of the Children Society and the City of New Westminster, with support from the City of Burnaby and the First Nations Health Authority.
