A man is in hospital with facial injuries after he was assaulted at the New Westminster SkyTrain Station.
Local police (NWPD) are now reaching out to the public in hopes those that witnessed the incident from early Tuesday morning, Nov. 21, will come forward.
Around 1 a.m., officers were called to a reported assault on the third level of the New West station — located near the intersection of Columbia and 8th streets.
A victim was found with injuries to his face and was taken to local hospital by BC Emergency Health Services.
"We're in the early stages of this investigation," explained NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Justine Thom in a news release.
"We believe there may have been others in the SkyTrain station who saw this assault. We're asking those people to come forward to tell us about what they saw."
NWPD are also asking witnesses to help identify the alleged suspect in the assault.
They are described as:
- Black male
- Between 20 and 40 years old
- Medium build
- Some facial hair
- Last seen wearing....
- Green pants
- Black hooded puffer jacket
- White sneakers
