Police say impairment is not believed to be a factor in Thursday night's crash.

Occupants of vehicles involved in a dramatic crash on Thursday night escaped with minor injuries.

Members of the New Westminster Police Department responded to a two-car collision at McBride Boulevard and East Sixth Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 27.

“One of the vehicles had flipped over as a result of the collision,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver.

According to Leaver, only minor injuries were sustained in the crash. He said the road was closed while the vehicles were moved off the road, but it soon reopened.

“Both drivers remained on scene and cooperated with the police investigation,” he said. “Impairment is not believed to be a factor, and one of the drivers is under investigation for Motor Vehicle Act offences.”

The crash is the latest in a series of vehicle incidents occurring near McBride Boulevard which have prompted calls from some residents for increased speed enforcement along the busy thoroughfare.
