A new business in uptown New West aims to provide a safe and inclusive destination where children of all abilities can engage, learn, play, and grow together
The Cove Indoor Play Space recently opened its first location in New Westminster. Located inside Royal City Centre mall, the facility is dedicated to fostering a community where fun, inclusivity, intentional play, and care collide.
“I want every child to feel valued and included, and every parent to feel supported,” founder Trisha Ocampo said in a news release. “Together, we can build a community that celebrates diversity and fosters understanding."
Community members are invited to attend The Cove’s grand opening on Sunday, Sept. 15 from noon to 4 p.m. Families will be able to explore indoor play space, meet The Cove’s staff, enjoy crafts, activities and refreshments.
The grand opening also includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local officials, photos with Snow White, a photo booth (1 to 3:30 p.m.) and more. At info booths, participants will be able to ask questions and find out The Cove’s services and memberships.
To RSVP for the grand opening event or to get more details about The Cove, visit the business’s website or email [email protected].
Ocampo said The Cove is a personal passion project for herself and her family. A mother of two and an advocate for children with neurodiverse needs, she sought to create a welcoming haven where children can learn, play, and grow together in a supportive and non-judgmental space.
“I grew up with my brother, who was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at a young age. I wish there was something like The Cove when we were growing up, and now, it’s a reality for new families,” she said. “My main goal is to create a welcoming place where children can learn, play, and grow together in a supportive and non-judgmental space.”
The Cove, located at 250-610 Sixth St., is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Details about the facility and admission rates can be found on The Cove Indoor Play Space website.
