New West-Coquitlam MLA Jennifer Whiteside named Minister of Labour

Whiteside's previous portfolio was mental health and addictions.

New Westminster-Coquitlam MLA Jennifer Whiteside will have a new portfolio to manage after the BC NDP's cabinet was sworn in on Monday, Nov. 18. 

Whiteside has been moved to Minister of Labour. She was previously Minister of Mental Health and Addictions. 

"At a time when there is a lot of worry and uncertainty about the future, British Columbians have asked us to work together and get things done that make a real difference in their daily lives," Eby said in a news release.

"This experienced and capable team will be focused on addressing the priority issues we heard loud and clear from British Columbians. We're honoured to have been given the opportunity to tackle these serious challenges."

Whiteside was elected a second-term as the New Westminster-Coquitlam MLA in the Oct. 19 provincial election. 

The new cabinet includes 23 ministers and four ministers of state with 14 parliamentary secretaries.
