New Westminster police have announced a high-risk missing person has been safely located 24 hours after going missing.

It’s the happy ending everyone had wanted for a high-risk man who was reported as missing on Thursday.

The New Westminster Police Department issued a news release on Thursday in an effort to help find the man, last seen on Alberta Street in Sapperton around 11 a.m. on Feb. 13.

When he still hadn’t be found by Friday morning, the NWPD scheduled a press conference to highlight the need to find him. Instead of holding a press conference, the NWPD has shared that officers with the Vancouver Police Department located him in downtown Vancouver around 11 a.m. Friday.

“This was the outcome we were all hoping for,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver, the NWPD’s media relations officer. “This was a true team effort... Our deepest thanks to all the community members who lent a hand and looked for him.”
