The New Westminster school district is looking for public feedback on its 2023/24 budget.

Got an opinion about how the New Westminster school district should spend money? New Westminster families can share their thoughts about the School District 40 budget.

The New Westminster school district is working on its budget for the 2023/24 school year, and part of the process includes a public survey. The SD40 budget survey is available online now and will be open for two weeks, closing April 23.

The survey (which will take an estimated five to nine minutes) will be used to help the district shape its budget direction for the coming school year.

It covers several district priorities — including enrolment growth, mental health and well-being, student safety and technology — and asks parents and caregivers to give feedback on the district’s current direction.

The board will also be holding one-on-one meetings with stakeholder groups — including the New Westminster Teachers’ Union, CUPE Local 409, the New Westminster Principals and Vice-Principals Association, the Indigenous advisory committee, the district parent advisory council and the Student Voice group at NWSS.

All their feedback will be considered in the superintendent’s recommendations to the board, which will be presented at its operations committee meeting on Tuesday, May 2.
