Shoppers wanting to know when Thrifty Foods will be opening the doors to its new Sapperton store will need to wait a bit longer.
Ralf Mundel, director of marketing for Thrifty Foods, said the company hasn't yet announced the store's opening date.
"Sometime in October is the time," he told The Record. "We always like to release it about a week in advance."
Mundel said the company is following the same practice that it's done with other store openings.
"We want to build the momentum," he said. "You will know the date very, very soon."
Thrifty Foods will be opening in the Brewery District development at 270 East Columbia St.
A recent posting on Twitter commented on the fact that the grocery store would be selling pumpkins to benefit the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
"We sell pumpkins - $1 from the sale of every single one goes to the local hospital foundation," Mundel said, noting the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation was a logical choice. "We have 17 hospital foundations that benefit from the Pumpkins for Charity initiative."
