If your idea of a mid-week pick-me-up was an order of pulled pork burrito from Chronic Tacos last 10 years, brace yourself for some grim news.
The taco spot that helped you add a taco to your Tuesday has closed its doors in New Westminster as of Oct. 15. The eatery originally announced an Oct. 25 closing date, but, on Oct. 13, it posted on Facebook that it would be closing in just two days.
Saturday, Oct. 15 was the last day you could walk into Columbia Square Plaza (10th Street), where the chain is located, and order your customized taco plates, tots and churros.
According to Restaurant News, the chain was founded in California in 2002, and ever since, expanded to over 50 locations in the U.S., Canada and Japan. The New West location was one among the five locations in Canada — the only two other B.C. locations are in Metrotown, Burnaby, and Waterfront, Vancouver.
The Record hasn’t been able to get a comment from the fast-casual chain on why they decided to pull the plug on their New West location. But in the meanwhile, those craving a crunchy taco loaded with their favourite toppings can rest knowing that though Chronic Tacos would soon be gone, the city offers many other options.
