A month after reopening to motorists, Front Street is once again being closed to traffic — but only at night.
In an April 8 notice, Fraser Crossing Partners announced it will be begin installing deck panels and overhang brackets on the girders across Front Street. The work, which will start in mid to late April, requires full overnight closures of Front Street for about four to six weeks.
The noticed stated Front Street will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. while this work is being done; the construction activities are not anticipated to be noisy.
“Front Street Mews and Columbia Street will remain open,” said the notice. “Trucks will be detoured to designated nighttime truck routes, and drivers will be detoured to Columbia Street.”
All traffic pattern changes and detours will be well signed, and traffic control personnel will be on site to assist, when necessary, said the notice.
Front Street reopened to traffic on March 14, 2025 after a nine-month closure related to the Pattullo Bridge replacement project. It had been closed since mid-June 2024 so crews could build a temporary support tower, install steel girders, build the new bridge deck, and build a new drainage outfall under Front Street.
