It may be a little noisier than normal on Sunday night for folks near the Pattullo Bridge.
Since June 17, a full closure of Front Street between Begbie Street and East Columbia Street has been in effect while crews install steel girders and build the new bridge deck between the bridge foundation south of Columbia Street and the in-river foundation near the New Westminster shoreline.
The full closure of Front Street is expected to last for six months.
In a Sept. 19 notice, the Pattullo Bridge replacement project team said girder installation activities are being completed during daytime hours, as much as possible; it said this work may need to occur at night in some instances – including this weekend.
“Starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, crews will be conducting nighttime girder installation activities until approximately 8 a.m. on the morning of Monday, Sept. 23,” said the notice. “This work must be performed at night to align with railway operations.”
The notice states that nearby residents may hear intermittent noise associated with the installation and bolting of the girders.
