"We miss you, we love you, we won't forget you."
With those words, Shawn Wade, president of the Royal Commonwealth Society, bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II, as residents gathered on the lawn in Queen's Park for a memorial service on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 18).
A bagpiper, a ceremonial guard, prayers, readings and song were all part of the program, and residents took time to add flowers and personal tributes to the display at the entrance wall to the park. People of all ages also lined up to add their names to a book of condolences for the Royal Family and to check out a display of Royal memorabilia.
Record reporter Julie MacLellan turned out for the occasion. Here's some of what she found.
