Police investigating suspicious death in New Westminster

New Westminster called in IHIT after responding to a report of a sudden death.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in to New West to investigate a suspicious death in Queensborough.

A news release from the New Westminster Police Department said the NWPD was called to the 1400 block of Salter Street for a report of a sudden death. Officers attended the residence at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

“Upon police attendance, a 38-year-old female was located deceased under suspicious circumstances,” said the news release.

The New Westminster Police Department contacted IHIT, which has assumed conduct of the investigation.

“IHIT will be working in partnership with the New Westminster Police Major Crime Unit to gather evidence and determine the circumstances of the death,” said the news release. “Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, and no further information will be provided at this time.”
