As New Westminster prepares to elect a mayor and city councillors, we're asking local residents to weigh in on the question: what civic issues are top-of-mind for you?
Five days since we posted our survey poll, three issues are pulling out ahead in readers' votes: crime and policing (68 votes), infrastructure (67 votes) and housing and homelessness (64 votes).
It's early days yet, though, and there's been plenty of buzz all year long about a host of issues as diverse as the population of this city.
So now it's your turn. Are you most concerned about reconciliation, equity and diversity? Are you worried about traffic and transportation? Are housing and homelessness top of mind for you? Do you have concerns about city infrastructure, like roads and recreation facilities? Are you concerned about crime and policing? Is the downtown core and all of its challenges at the head of your list? Or are you thinking about something else altogether?
Please take the time to cast your vote (below) for the one issue you care about the most. Your votes will help to inform our coverage of the election campaign this fall, in advance of the Oct. 15 election.
If the option that's most pressing for you isn’t listed in this poll, please write us a comment below or email [email protected].
