Keep your chopsticks handy, as Noodlebox is opening a brand new store in the Sapperton area in mid-October.
“I can excitedly confirm we are opening a store in New West in the Sapperton neighborhood in partnership with our franchisee Manpreet Singh,” said Tessa Heath, marketing manager — Noodlebox Canada.
The store, she said, would be the chain’s 29th location — in just over 20 years.
Noodlebox, acording to its website, had started off as a small food cart in the Chinatown area of Victoria, B.C., back in 2001. Today, the chain has expanded to three provinces, with the newest location set to open at Sapperton’s Nelson’s Court where Starbucks used to be located.
About the New West store’s opening, their CEO, Dustin May commented, “We are very excited to be joining the vibrant neighbourhood of Sapperton and bring the community Real Food, Made Fresh, With Fire.”
The chain, according to the website, makes their boxes of spicy peanut noodles, Thai-style chow mein and Pad Thai using the “2,000-year-old tradition of wok cooking with fire.”
You can choose the kind of noodle (including those made with zucchini, or rice) that goes into that wok.
You also get to pick the protein (from barbecue char siu pork, sirloin beef, crispy chicken or tofu among others) to complete your noodle box, and the heat level you think your taste buds can handle — the range goes from mild to ghost-pepper hot.
And if it gets extra fiery, there is always the crunchy sweet spring roll on the menu to dilute that heat.
Noodlebox will be located at 289 Nelson’s Court. The chain offers vegan and gluten-free options, and also mac & cheese and chow mein noodleboxes for kids.
