If you're still revelling in that pleasantly stuffed feeling after a successful Easter feast, then prop your feet up and stop a moment to plan the coming week.
If you have kids in school, consider this your reminder that they are in fact off tomorrow — since Easter Monday is a school holiday, though not a statutory day off for the rest of us. Whether you have tomorrow off, too, or whether you're facing a regular old workday, check out the highlights of the week ahead to get your week off to a good start.
For weather watchers: April showers
If April showers do indeed bring May flowers, this week might be quite a helpful one. The Weather Network's forecast for the coming week is calling for some wet weather (though, as this is being written in advance of the holiday weekend, things may have changed by the time you read it). We're looking at a grey sort of start to the week: cloudy with showers Monday, with a high of 11 C; light rain Tuesday, with a high of 10 C; and chance of a shower Wednesday, with a high of 10 C. It's all part for the course in what's expected to be a month of fickle weather.
On the up side, more cherry blossoms are coming out — though the season is definitely off to a slow start. Check out this list of best viewing spots in New West if you, like me, just can't get enough of cherry blossoms.

For school board watchers: Committee meetings Tuesday
School District 40 schools are in session (aside from that aforementioned Easter Monday holiday), and the school board is back to the table on Tuesday, April 11. The board meets for its education committee meeting in person at Fraser River Middle School at 3:30 p.m., and the operations committee meeting follows at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. You can find links and agenda packages at the SD40 website.
For city hall watchers: No Monday meeting
There's an affordable housing and child-care committee meeting on Tuesday, April 11, but there's no city council meeting this week. In fact, council isn't scheduled to meet again until Monday, April 24, when there's a public hearing at 6 p.m. and a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. You can find all the meeting details, agenda and information about attending at the City of New Westminster website.
