Are we warm enough yet? With summer weather upon us, it's looking like a delightful week to get out and about and enjoy everything New West has to offer — especially once the unusual heat abates a little.
If it remains hot, be sure to check out our seven tips for beating the heat in New Westminster, too.
Some highlights:
For weather watchers: Sun, sun and still more sun
Ditch the umbrellas in favour of sunscreen this week, because you don't often see quite so many sunshine icons in the Weather Network's forecast for New Westminster. Monday will see a high of 28 C that feels like 32 C, as our streak of hot weather continues. Tuesday is expected to be mainly sunny, with a high of 25 C that feels like 29 C, while Wednesday continues the trend with a high of 24 C that feels like 28 C. Thursday will warm up again a little, with a high of 26 C that feels like 31 C. By Friday, we could be seeing the temperatures start to decline a little, with a projected high of 22 C that feels like 24 C.

- Gallery at Queen's Park: There's still lots of time to catch Romance and Roses, an exhibition of work by Marney-Rose Edge, running until May 28 at the Arts Council of New Westminster gallery in Centennial Lodge. The gallery is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's free, but donations are always accepted. You can find all the details at the gallery website.

They're showing their work in an exhibition at the Anvil Centre's Community Art Gallery, running until May 24. Stop in to the gallery on the third floor at Anvil Centre (777 Columbia St.) to check it out. It's free and open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
For city hall watchers: No council meeting Monday
City council watchers have a week off this week, with no regular meetings scheduled. There aren't any the weekend after, either (which includes the Victoria Day statutory holiday), so you don't get another batch of meetings until May 29. You can find all the meeting details, agenda and information about attending at the City of New Westminster website.
For school board watchers: No meetings this week
If you're an education watcher, you have another week before the next regular SD40 board meeting on Tuesday, May 23; expect more talk about the budget for 2023-24, which is always a big news item at this time of year. You can attend in person at the board office (811 Ontario St.) or online via Zoom. You can find links and agenda packages at the SD40 website.
