With new coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions cancelling New Year's events and postponing hockey games, you might be in the need for some lighter news.
Look no further than the recent release of three harbour seals orchestrated by the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre. Harbour seals Link, Squish and Kaitlyn were released at Porteau Cove on Friday (Dec. 17) after being rehabilitated at the centre.
"It is always extremely rewarding for our staff to release these rescued animals back to their natural environment," wrote Vancouver Aquarium communication manager Todd Hauptman in a recent email.
Link, Squish and Kaitlyn had spent three, two and four months at the centre respectively. They had been admitted for wounds, emaciation and other marine mammal disturbances.
