The Ghosts of New Westminster

Coldspotters Paranormal Investigations and Events is leading a guided walking tour of downtown New Westminster, where you’ll get “a ghostly and eye-opening looking into New Westminster and the dark secretes that remain.”

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Teaching Pow Wow: Voices of our Children

Commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at Westminster Pier Park, where the Spirit of the Children Society and the City of New Westminster are co-hosting a teaching powwow. The event includes host drum by StarChild, dancing by Wild Moccasin Dancers, a marketplace with Indigenous vendors, and food and drinks from food trucks and Eats concessions.

Traditional Ukrainian dinner

The monthly traditional Ukrainian perogy dinner takes place at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral on Saturday. Whether you choose to dine in or take out, you’ll enjoy their tasty homemade perogies, cabbage rolls, borscht and sausages.

Sunday, Oct. 1

The Zombies

The Zombies are performing in New Westminster as part of their North American tour. The show, which starts at 7 p.m., includes special guest Blue Moon Marquee Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, the Zombies, who had hits in the 1960s with tunes like She’s Not There, Time of the Season and Tell Her No, recently released a new album, Different Game.

Blessing of Animals

A pet blessing is part of this Sunday’s regular service at St. Barnabas Anglican Church. Along with celebrating the “season of creation” the service includes a chance to bless pet – in person or in absentia if you bring a photo. (Owners are asked to bring cats in carriers and have dogs on leashes.) Following the service, there will be a pancake breakfast in the church hall at 11 a.m.

The Interplay of Light

It’s the last week to catch glass artist Robert Friedman’s exhibit, The Interplay of Light, at the Gallery at Queen’s Park.

  • When: The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The final day of the exhibition is Sunday, Oct. 1.
  • Where: Arts New West’s Gallery is located in Centennial Lodge in Queen’s Park.
  • Details:  Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
