Witnesses help New West police arrest nail salon break-in suspect

New Westminster police arrested a break-in suspect with the help of witnesses.

A man has been charged with break and enter after an after-hours break-in at a local nail salon.

A witness spotted a man break the window of Crystal Nails Spa in Columbia Square Plaza on 10th Street about 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 9. The witness called police and provided details on the incident, as well as description of the alleged suspect and the direction he was travelling.

According to the NWPD, patrol officers rushed to the area and, with help from other witnesses in the area, were able to quickly locate a suspect near the New Westminster SkyTrain station.

“The cash register and business related documents were stolen,” said NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Justine Thom. “All has been recovered.”

Kyle Lansimaki, a 39-year-old Coquitlam resident has been charged with break and enter.

“This arrest was made possible due to the observations of the witness on scene, as well as other individuals in area,” Thom said in a news release. “Our patrol officers did excellent work in locating and arresting the person responsible.”
