Dust off the old clarinet and join the fun

It's time to dust off that old clarinet you've been keeping since high school. The New Westminster and District Concert Band is looking for new members this fall, for its beginner, intermediate and senior levels.

The New Westminster and District Concert Band is looking for new members this fall, for its beginner, intermediate and senior levels.

Ages 10 and up are welcome to join to either learn to play or share their talents with a variety of instruments (except strings).

Practices are Mondays and Thursdays, starting Sept. 6 at Richard McBride School gym in New Westminster. Beginner band practice starts at 6 p.m., and intermediate and senior bands start at 6: 30 p.m. For more information, visit www.nwdband.com.

CELEBRATE SUDAN

For a taste of Sudanese culture and a live performance by singer Omer Ehasa, the Bitmakaly Women's Association and Sudanese community is hosting a concert at the Sapperton Pensioners Hall from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Sept. 8.

CALL FOR ARTISTS IN THE CITY

Artists, youth leaders and senior leaders are wanted in the Royal City for an upcoming series of workshops.

Heart 2 Art is an intergenerational art-based project designed to "make the world a better place through art."

Art can be spoken word, digital photography, mosaic, music and theatre/ performance.

The program was made possible through a grant from New Horizon's For Seniors, with support from the City of New Westminster and federal government.
