It's funny how quickly we West Coasters adapt.
After many months of living through the gray dampness that comes with our rainforest locale, the sun is usually a welcome respite.
We've been lucky in New Westminster, with plenty of dry weather this summer.
The outdoor pools have echoed with children's laughter. The water guns have been out in full force - as has the watermelon. By the standards of any sun worshipper (or just appreciator), it has been a glorious summer.
Now, after three months of enjoying the warm, sunny weather, we're facing the oncoming fall months.
Some people prefer the more temperate autumn weather - for some, it's even why they choose to live here - and are now gleefully anticipating the donning of sweaters and the downing of hot cocoa.
But for others, the summer months are our reward for slogging through mud puddles and wrestling with umbrellas the rest of the year.
It's nearly time to prepare for the fall and winter - though not without one last hurrah.
According to www.accuweather. com, the wet weather will be arriving as per usual in September. And this year, it could be an even wetter fall as the Pacific storm track is headed our way, meteorologists say.
We've had a wee taste of the rain again after our extremely dry July, and there are showers expected on Saturday, to ease us back into the cloudy weather.
But there are plenty of days left to enjoy the summer sun. Get walking, swimming, biking, or just basking (with lots of sunscreen) in the coming weeks.
Gather ye rosebuds - as well as plenty of vitamin D. Make hay - scratch that, just have fun - while the sun shines.
Come November, most of us will be missing the warm rays, at least a little.
