Dear Editor:
Re: All royal, all the time, this week in Canada, Our View, The Record, July 6.
Although this opinion piece is not a scathing condemnation of the recent visit to Canada by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, it does seem that
the writer considers the visit and the visitors rather useless to Canada and her citizens, many of whom, according to the television coverage, appeared to be having a very happy time royal watching.
The writer agrees that the couple are easy on the eyes and easy to like, but says, "it does seem a little silly to devote so much of our national attention to two people whose achievements to date consist of growing up and getting married."
I think it can be said they have achieved more than that, both individually and as a couple, but, if not, haven't they done those things well?
