Leave 'Royal City' alone already

Dear Editor: I just want to remind Bob Rennie and the council that without the past, there is no present and no future.

Dear Editor:

I just want to remind Bob Rennie and the council that without the past, there is no present and no future.

Don't we treasure our past? This is why we keep memoirs and mementos? Don't we value our names from our family's history? Do we change our names because they are not modern or contemporary?

I moved to New Westminster 15 years ago. I am proud when I tell people I live in New Westminster, the "Royal City."

I love its history and heritage. I have lived in other cities, and New Westminster is the best place I have lived.

I do not have anything against progress, but please do not forget where present New Westminster came from. Also, do not short change the younger generation by saying that they will not be attracted to live in New West because it is the "Royal City" and it sounds antiquated.

I feel the younger demographics understand the importance of history more than we think they do.

Please leave New Westminster as the "Royal City" and retain its historical image. As the saying goes, if it's not broken, do not fix it.
