Gee, after hearing the great news that inflation is now down to something like 2.5%, I was ready to jump for joy as I was parking on Sixth Street in New Westminster. I only needed 15 or so minutes and I had only two loonies in change on me, but I found out that the reduced 20 minutes (from 30) was now $1.25. And of course the meter does not give change. So it cost me $2.
Then I did the math from around a year ago. Back then they gave us 30 minutes for $1. This was reduced to 20 minutes, so that effectively was a 51% increase. Now the same 20 minutes costs $1.25 ( assuming you have change), which is an 89% increase over the original 30 minutes for a buck!
Now I guess inflation is down because you and I did not buy that new Rolls Royce or that 60-foot yacht, but we didn’t stop parking and buying the “necessities” of life, so we had to drive to a store and park.
My request is will the media stop publishing that the inflation rate is 2.5% and we are supposed to be thanking the Bank of Canada governor and the governments who are not understanding why we are all slowly going broke.
