The Cumberland Street train crossing is one of the Sapperton crossings where train horns raise concerns from neighbours.

Editor:

I am writing this letter to express my deep concern regarding the excessive and unnecessary use of train horns in Sapperton neighborhood in New West. The constant blaring of train horns at all hours of the day and night is causing a great deal of disturbance to me and my family, as well as to other residents of the area.

As you are well aware, train horns are extremely loud and can be heard from miles away.

This continuous noise pollution is not only affecting our quality of life, but it is also impacting our health and well-being. The loud train horns disrupt our sleep, cause stress and anxiety, and can even lead to hearing loss. This is simply unacceptable, and action needs to be taken to address this problem.

I understand that train safety is of paramount importance, but I would like to request that the use of train horns in my neighbourhood be limited to only when it is absolutely necessary. I urge you to explore alternative safety measures such as the use of advanced warning systems, such as flashing lights or gates, which are in place at many other railroad crossings.

In conclusion, I hope that you will take this complaint seriously and work towards finding a solution that will benefit both the safety of your trains and the well-being of the Sapperton residents. I look forward to hearing about the positive actions taken thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
